On the 9th of February over 80 people heard about the many new expansions and initiatives including some ‘firsts’ in Australia and possibly internationally.
The launch held at the Wellington at Botanical Gardens in White Hills.
There will be the opportunity for someone with limited mobility to complete the marathon in a world – leading all-terrain wheelchair.
Maps will be made available in paper and digital format via Smartphone and computer access. Smartphone will offer the runner/cyclist live access to ‘their location’ information, distances and routes to map features, and emergency response information
Plus an opportunity for a marathon runner, regardless of age, gender or ability, to represent Australia at the 2018 Wenlock Olympian Games in England.
The O’Keefe – Its more than a Race’ video (see below) was also released at the launch.
The video provided some amazing vision of what is on offer along the O’Keefe Rail Trail and surrounding areas and exposed some of the hidden gems for visitors contemplating coming to the Run Cycle Walk & Roll Event.
Showcasing food, wine, accommodation, activities, scenery and lifestyle, this video has wider potential for tourism marketing for what is an attractive and inviting region. Bendigo Tourism has co-sponsored the production of the video and is working with us on promoting the event for this year to attract visitors to the region.
