The O'Keefe mascot Priscilla the Powerful Owl makes an appearance

Priscilla the powerful owl, mascot for the Run Cycle Walk & Roll event, and her helpers made a surprise appearance today to tell the kids at the primary school sports carnival all about the fun things they could do at the Fun Run Walk & Roll event Sunday 23rd April.   Her helpers explained why this event is for everyone – young and old, mums and bubs, grans and pops even for those with limited mobility.


There is an Old Women’s Race based on one of the Wenlock Olympian Society’s original races.  This is a fun race for men and women to participate in. Dressing up is essential!  It is certainly not just for Women, we know how much men like to dress up!


A 5km Fun Run Walk & Roll starting at the O’Keefe Rail Trail in Herriot St going just past Speed Street about 2.5kms and looping around finishing back at the starting point, Although runners and walkers will be able to get their times for this event it is not about who wins but more an event that everyone can enjoy.   


The Mile, another popular traditional race, is open to individuals and also schools and groups who can enter a team and win $100 and the perpetual team trophy.   



The 500 metres a family friendly course that children under five and grandparents may enjoy.


The helpers also told of Priscilla’s plans to win back the Mascot Challenge title from Axel the Platypus and how she was extending a challenge to all other mascots in the area. There have already been several mascots enter the race.


Not only will they have lots of fun , they can win loads of prizes for themselves their families and even their schools. Everyone who participates will receive a special Priscilla Medal, and the children under five a Priscilla Ribbon.
