Loads of fun for the family

March 18, 2018

Priscilla and Fazzi, much loved mascots of the O’Keefe Challenge and Heathcote Community Games, and their team have been working together tirelessly over the past 12 months to bring to the community and our visitors loads of free entertainment, together with some events geared particularly at the younger generations and those of us, who are not quite so athletic, but enjoy giving it a go and having some fun.

Finishing on the oval this year means there is loads of space and scope for these activities to happen.

Some of our free events include, Kelly Sports activities, rock climbing wall, and roving magician.

Kelly sports will bring crazy circus, radical relays and awesome animal games and of course the ever popular parachute game.

Our 8m high rock climbing wall is awesome.  It creates a unique experience for the whole family with 5 different climbs to choose from.  Getting to the top and ringing the bell lets everyone know if you made it.

For the young ones we have our Playzone , a portable blow up playground, incorporating  15 different play events .

Show Off Entertainment ,  one of our much loved entertainers,  are back.  Justin Showman will be roving through the area during the day providing close up and interactive entertainment, including loads of magic and illusions and some of the best balloon twisting you will ever see.

AND, there is more!

We have our community events;

Lions Mile, one for those with sheer speed on their minds - it's an event for anyone who wants to give the mile their best shot!  This year we have changed the course and added a bit of a challenge.

This year's Lions 1Km Schools Challenge is one is for primary school aged children to participate in, and have a chance to represent their school in a quest to win the Lions Schools Challenge Perpetual shield.

Don't forget to regiser your school name on entry -

The Lion's 500m Superheroes dash will finalise our running/walking events for the day, and it one you don't want to miss.  This is for those 5 and under, and all are encouraged to dress up as their favourite superheroes.  Mums and dads are welcome to encourage and participate with their children.

Our very special Wenlock Tribute Race to honour women in sport.  Participants are welcome to enter and dress up and  represent a favourite woman sports star, and run a lap round our beautiful Barrack Reserve oval, in front of a cheering crowd, straight after presentations.

Male or Female participants welcome, as long as registered and showing they are honouring a ‘woman in’ sport past or present.   This is your opportunity to win a ‘Pound of Tea’, and the pay homage to Dr William Penny Brooks, Founder of the Wenlock Olympian Games, and the inspiration for our modern day Olympics.  Brooks was a great believer of the benefits of sport for both men and women

Participants in all events will receive a finishers medal!

Priscilla, Fazzi and their friends will also be making guest appearances during the day, presenting an ideal opportunity for a great photo shot and to collect some give aways.
